Happy New Year! – make it the best year yet!

Stefan Wissenbach

I’ve always liked marking the end of one year, and celebrating the start of the next. It’s a great feeling to look back at what’s been achieved and to look forward with excitement as you consider the magic that lies in the year ahead. Wherever you are in the world, whatever your circumstances, I wish you a peaceful, healthy, prosperous and fulfilling 2013!

A year-end riddle…

Stefan Wissenbach

Tonight, my son, Max, asked me to answer this riddle: “I never was, am always to be. No one ever saw me, nor ever will. And yet I am the confidence of all, to live and breathe on this terrestrial ball. What am I?” Before reading on try and answer. It’s hard – and I didn’t manage to figure it out. Finally, I gave in and asked him to tell me the answer. “The future!” – he said And as…

A Magic Christmas Carol…

Stefan Wissenbach

Christmas is a truly magical time of year. Steeped in tradition, we all celebrate the festive season in our own way – spending time with family and friends, taking long walks, enjoying great food – and maybe even sampling the odd glass of fizz!  For me, however, Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without sitting down with the family to watch A Christmas Carol – the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and how, on a cold Christmas Eve, he is visited…

Life is fragile – make it count!

Stefan Wissenbach

In the last week a dear friend and colleague tragically lost his wife and this morning my mother-in-law passed away.   When faced with a tragedy or an upsetting or negative situation, I remind myself of the words from Tony Robbins:   “This is a bad situation, but if some good were to come from it, what would it be?”   As I sat this morning for my ‘magic hour’ I reflected on how fragile life is, and yet how…

The ultimate goal…

Stefan Wissenbach

What would make you happier? More money, more free time, better relationships, a new job, better health?… The dictionary defines happiness as something that results from the possession or attainment of what one considers good – in other words, achieving what matters to you. I passionately believe that for each and every one of us, our personal level of happiness is the most important thing. Why do I say this? Well, I think that happiness is frankly life’s driving force. Your…

At a glance inspiration!

Stefan Wissenbach

After many years of reading about and studying the power of visualisation, to me, the single most powerful way of staying connected to what you want to do, be and achieve in life is by having your own personalised vision board. It’s a proven way to keep your goals and aspirations front of mind, helping you achieve more of what’s really important to you. At its most basic level, a vision board keeps you connected to what you are trying…

Proud parents and milestone moments!

Stefan Wissenbach

Today I reached one of life’s milestone moments! My 18 year old son, Oli, has just left for the airport to fly to Canada for four months. He’s off to do some exams to qualify as a snowboard instructor. It’s the first time that he’s been away from the family for more than a week in 18 years and, as the first of my children to leave home (albeit it temporarily), it truly is one of life’s milestone moments! Over…

Life is like a jigsaw…

Stefan Wissenbach

When you put together a jigsaw, you have the finished picture to help you – it makes the process of putting together all the different shaped pieces in the right places far easier. Life is no different. If you have a clear picture of what you want to achieve, putting together the different pieces of your life to build the future you desire will also be far easier. Just like completing a jigsaw, you gradually build the picture, taking as…

Build your own skyscraper!

Stefan Wissenbach

To move forward and progress, we need motivation. It’s the thing that gets us started and the thing that keeps us going. I often refer to motivation as being the ‘foundation’ to anything we set out to achieve in life. Imagine that you are just about to build a really tall skyscraper. A landmark building that will be around for many, many years to come – in fact, long after you’re gone. Before building the first floor, if you’re sensible,…

Don’t ruin today by worrying about tomorrow!

Stefan Wissenbach

I recently read a great quote – ‘You can’t change the past, but you can ruin the present by worrying about the future’. It’s so true! Let’s break this quote down… Firstly, you can’t change the past. However, you can learn from it – both good and bad experiences can give you tremendous insight into how to deal with situations today and in the future. It’s a tragedy when people don’t learn from their experiences. Secondly, to me, worry is…
